Nan Ward, from Pennsylvania, has been a long time supporter of the Sanctuary. She has adopted Cowboy each year since 2007. Thank you for being a devoted supporter of the Sanctuary.
Nan says: "be generous, give to this wonderful place!" And that is what Nan does. She is very generous and helps us enormously building our new sanctuary. THANK YOU Nan!!!!
On August 13th, Monique van der Hoek paid a visit to the Sanctuary. Monique is from Aruba. She fell in love with Pica because he is a survivor. Pica is our donkey who survived being hit by a car years ago and has two deformed legs. He is a very sweet donkey.
Adoption August 13, 2007 - 2008
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pica on Friday, October 26, 2007. Pica was having his hooves trimmed and apparently he became scared and jumped up. When he landed he broke his front right leg (the one that had been broken before). The vet was called and came to the Sanctuary. Unfortunately there was nothing he could do as the bone was through the skin and it was his bad leg so he was put downA couple from Aruba (?) had adopted Bally in the past.
Unfortunately Bally is no longer with us so they decided to adopt Spot, one of our newer residents
Margareth Irausquin came to visit the sanctuary and felt so sad for Bambi. She returned and adopted him.
November 1, 2008 Bambi, had to be put to sleep. Bambi came to us in September 2006. He had a birth defect, scliosis (a curvature of the spine). As he grew and got older his back became worse and he was having trouble walking. It was not going to get better so the difficult decision was made to let him go to donkey heaven. We will all miss him as will his devoted friend and protector, Lucky.
Margareth will continue to support us and adopted Sonic instead of Bambi. Sonic wanted to be in charge. Chocolat and Chippie didn’t let him win. He is limping since…..
Take Route 4a from the hotels and follow this road for 14 km, pass all the circles/roundabouts until you see a sign for the French Men’s Pass. Make a left turn onto the French Men’s Pass, then 1st left, 2nd right. On that dirt road you will find the Donkey Sanctuary after about 200 meters.
If you have a GPS device, navigate to these coordinates:  N 12°48.974’  W 069°96.642’  This will bring you to the entrance of the Donkey Sanctuary.
