Sheri & Gary Thurlow from Florida have been supporters of the Sanctuary. In the past they had adopted Bambi. Since Bambi passed away they decided to adopt two donkeys to celebrate their 18th anniversary. They chose Sunday and Miranda. Sunday was born March 30, 2008. He is a very good looking young donkey. Miranda was born February 27th this year. She is getting friendly and loves to run around her corral.
The Byington sisters paid a visit to the Sanctuary to meet our four legged family. Maryanne decided to adopt a donkey for her sister Martha. Blanca was the lucky donkey who was picked. Blanca has a very slim face and she is a real lady. She does not push her way to the front of the line when food is being given. She waits her turn.
The adoption is ongoing. The sisters come every Christmas to see their beloved Blanca.
Judith van Rooijen has been a very enthousiastic volunteer in 2003 - 2004. According to Patrick, her fiancee, she always talks about the Aruban Donkeys. As a birthday gift for Judith they made a trip to Aruba including a visit to Watty and his friends.
The adoption of Watty (1961) is a fact. Watty reminds her of Grandpa who passed away from old age, november 2006.
Ms. Anning H. Smith Sr. from New Jersey wished to adopt one of our Aruban donkeys and name him after her husband: her eye was taken by Mikey, who will now be known as ‘Mikey Egon’. Mikey hasn’t been with us for long but already knows how pleasant it is to hang around the porch – sociable and sometimes delicious! the adoption is to be continued. Thank you very much Ms Anning Smith!
The adoption is renewed with another year till march 2009. Thank you!
Take Route 4a from the hotels and follow this road for 14 km, pass all the circles/roundabouts until you see a sign for the French Men’s Pass. Make a left turn onto the French Men’s Pass, then 1st left, 2nd right. On that dirt road you will find the Donkey Sanctuary after about 200 meters.
If you have a GPS device, navigate to these coordinates:  N 12°48.974’  W 069°96.642’  This will bring you to the entrance of the Donkey Sanctuary.
