Diana Erasmus from Aruba was so happy that the Sanctuary is taking care of the Aruban donkeys. To show her support she decided to adopt one. Little Sparkle caught her eye and that is the one she picked
Sparkle born July 12, 2008. The adoption runs for a year

Cowboy is Linda Shapiro’s donkey-love. She adopted him for a period of two years, starting on March 17, 2004. Cowboy was so unfortunate to have stepped into an air filter with his hind leg. It took three weeks before we were able to cut the burden off of him, which took several hours. With assistance of people from Texas (hence the name Cowboy), this wild donkey is now running around the sanctuary free and very happy. Mrs Shapiro renewed the adoption till march 2010. Thank you very much!

Judith van Rooijen has been a very enthousiastic volunteer in 2003 - 2004. According to Patrick, her fiancee, she always talks about the Aruban Donkeys. As a birthday gift for Judith they made a trip to Aruba including a visit to Watty and his friends.
The adoption of Watty (1961) is a fact. Watty reminds her of Grandpa who passed away from old age, november 2006.

Marja Kik, Jacqueline Boderie sister, volunteers every vacation on Aruba. She adopted Esmeralda back in 2008 and sometimes pays her adoption fee with micro chips for all donkeys or vaccines or dewormers. She is a veterinarian specialized in reptiles in the Netherlands but loves to hang around our donkeys as well.
Take Route 4a from the hotels and follow this road for 14 km, pass all the circles/roundabouts until you see a sign for the French Men’s Pass. Make a left turn onto the French Men’s Pass, then 1st left, 2nd right. On that dirt road you will find the Donkey Sanctuary after about 200 meters.
If you have a GPS device, navigate to these coordinates:  N 12°48.974’  W 069°96.642’  This will bring you to the entrance of the Donkey Sanctuary.
