Debbie Hess spent hours at the sanctuary, talked with almost all of the volunteers and said: My favorite part of this beautiful Island - the Donkeys! She adopted Sgt Pepper who came to live with us back in 2016. Back back in the day we had a youth club and one of our members rescued Sgt Pepper. When she wanted to become a veterinarian and left for her studies she asked if he could come and live with us.
Over the years Danica Badillo adopted Bringamosa, Kromoor a.k.a. Crooked Ear and Kamino. This time she adopted Esmeralda. As far as we know she is our eldest donkey. We think she was born somewhere around 1985?
The Letellier family came to renew the adoption of Kromoor a.k.a. Crooked Ear, however they took a picture with Floppy instead. It is confusing, we know!
Kimberly, Kevin and their daughter Presley adopted Kamino and Tiger, two donkeys that need some more medical attention. Tiger is being treated for anemia and Kamino is still recovering from the amputation.
Originally they adopted Tiger a few days ago, but since she suddenly passed away they choose Kromoor instead of her.
Greta Toussaint volunteered with us for 2 months with the European Solidarity Corps program. During this time she fell in love with Boem Boem, Sgt Pepper and Blanca. She couldn't make up her mind which of these donkeys she wanted to adopt. Blanca was the one she pulled from the straws.
Samantha and Dale totally fell for Gypsy, they adopted her on Wednesday and were back on to say hello and give her some more carrots. We like the dedication!
Take Route 4a from the hotels and follow this road for 14 km, pass all the circles/roundabouts until you see a sign for the French Men’s Pass. Make a left turn onto the French Men’s Pass, then 1st left, 2nd right. On that dirt road you will find the Donkey Sanctuary after about 200 meters.
If you have a GPS device, navigate to these coordinates:  N 12°48.974’  W 069°96.642’  This will bring you to the entrance of the Donkey Sanctuary.
