I would like to introduce myself. I am one of the donkeys of the Aruban Donkey foundation and I have been living in the sanctuary since January of this year. My mother had left me behind in San Nicolas right after my birth. Fortunately there were people who took me to the volunteers of the shelter. These were also the people who have tried to catch my mother, but they have not succeeded. She was limping and could not take care of me.
The volunteers of the Donkey foundation could not leave me behind, because I would have become prey for roaming dogs. Really scary! According to the volunteers I am a naughty, but healthy baby donkey, who is shooting up nicely. I still need a lot of extra care, because I do not get mother’s milk. Therefore I need to be raised with a bottle. I drink special foal’s milk powder, which is flown in from the USA. This is very expensive milk and I drink a lot of it.
That is why I am trying to find people who want to adopt me. I will still stay at the Donkey Sanctuary, but you just need to pay thirty florins per month for my upkeep. You help the shelter this way and me as well. You will receive a nice document and a fantastic tee-shirt. Can you call the Shelter please? The number is 593-2933. You can also become a sponsor via our website www.arubandonkey.org. Please help.
Take Route 4a from the hotels and follow this road for 14 km, pass all the circles/roundabouts until you see a sign for the French Men’s Pass. Make a left turn onto the French Men’s Pass, then 1st left, 2nd right. On that dirt road you will find the Donkey Sanctuary after about 200 meters.
If you have a GPS device, navigate to these coordinates:  N 12°48.974’  W 069°96.642’  This will bring you to the entrance of the Donkey Sanctuary.
