On August 13th, Monique van der Hoek paid a visit to the Sanctuary. Monique is from Aruba. She fell in love with Pica because he is a survivor. Pica is our donkey who survived being hit by a car years ago and has two deformed legs. He is a very sweet donkey.
Adoption August 13, 2007 - 2008
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pica on Friday, October 26, 2007. Pica was having his hooves trimmed and apparently he became scared and jumped up. When he landed he broke his front right leg (the one that had been broken before). The vet was called and came to the Sanctuary. Unfortunately there was nothing he could do as the bone was through the skin and it was his bad leg so he was put downTake Route 4a from the hotels and follow this road for 14 km, pass all the circles/roundabouts until you see a sign for the French Men’s Pass. Make a left turn onto the French Men’s Pass, then 1st left, 2nd right. On that dirt road you will find the Donkey Sanctuary after about 200 meters.
If you have a GPS device, navigate to these coordinates:  N 12°48.974’  W 069°96.642’  This will bring you to the entrance of the Donkey Sanctuary.
